The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is one of Britain’s most iconic protected areas, home to 186 miles of breathtaking coastline and diverse habitats, with some of the most spectacular scenery in Britain. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path, the registered public rights of way network and designated access land provide opportunities for the enjoyment of the National Park’s special qualities. We are now looking for an Access Team Leader to manage this work ensuring the Authority discharges its statutory duties.

As Access Team Leader you will manage the maintenance and improvement of the network of public rights of way. You will provide guidance on standards of maintenance for surface, infrastructure and vegetation control and establish periodic surveys and inspections of the condition of the network. You will be responsible for budget management.

You will be responsible for managing the Public Rights of Way Officer and National Trail Officer.

As well as providing advice and preparing relevant policies and plans you will undertake performance monitoring and reporting and respond to statutory and non-statutory consultations.

You will undertake legal procedures affecting public rights of way to adapt and protect the network, including the diversion and creation of public paths, temporary closures and enforcement action.

We are looking for someone who has:
• A degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
• Detailed working knowledge and experience of countryside access, public rights of way law and management.
• Effective communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills with experience of preparing reports and presenting and communicating with a range of audiences and stakeholders both within and outside the National Park Authority.
• Excellent organisational abilities with proven experience of planning, prioritising and working to deadlines and targets, and within budget.
• Experience in line management.

Although Welsh language skills are not essential, the ability to communicate in Welsh would be an advantage.

Would you like to join an award-winning Communications team, helping to deliver a Communications and Marketing service for an organisation committed to conserving Pembrokeshire’s iconic National Park?

We have an opportunity for the right candidate to deliver a first-class sales service by co-ordinating the Coast to Coast advertising contract; liaising with advertisers and internal and external designers to facilitate the publication’s advertising sales, and facilitate the distribution process post-production.
You’ll provide support for social media scheduling, as well as helping with special launches and other public relations events, including the Pembrokeshire County Show.

The role will also involve assisting with general marketing activities, including advertising campaigns and associated development of advertising materials, processing of research data and updating of a marketing contacts database.

We are looking for someone who has:

• A degree level education with a relevant communications or marketing qualification, and at least two years’ experience in the past five years working in-house in a professional communications or sales/marketing environment.

• Experience in supporting with major event organisation, including event planning and co-ordinating logistical arrangements.

• Experience in handling advertising sales and associated financial data processing.

• Excellent IT knowledge, customer service skills and great written and spoken communication skills.

Acting as a vital link between farmers, National Landscapes, and funding bodies, you will play a key role in delivering conservation and land management projects on farms and common land.

This role also involves regular farm-based work, providing hands-on support and building strong working relationships with participants.

Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinate the Ffermio Bro programme within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and Gower National Landscape, ensuring its effective implementation and alignment with programme objectives.
• Identify and engage potential programme participants, including farmers and landowners, encouraging their involvement and addressing any concerns.
• Provide advice on conservation practices, sustainable land management, and biodiversity connectivity.
• Act as a liaison between farmers, National Landscapes, funding bodies, and other stakeholders to facilitate strong working relationships and collaborative efforts.
• Support farmers and landowners in accessing available funding, guiding them through application processes and offering ongoing assistance.
• Monitor the delivery of funded activities, ensuring compliance with agreed objectives and tracking outcomes.

To be considered as a Ffermio Bro Advisor, you will need:
• Practical conservation experience.
• Experience in building relationships with farmers and land managers or facilitating farming groups.
• Broad or specific experience of agricultural practices, either personally or professionally.
• An understanding of current and past agri-environment schemes in Wales.
• Knowledge of the characteristic habitats and species of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and Gower National Landscape.
• Awareness of issues affecting farmers and rural communities in Wales.
• A degree in environment, ecology, agriculture, or land management, or a relevant land-based qualification with experience.
• Ability and willingness to work alone in the countryside.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends with appropriate time off in lieu.
• Ability and willingness to travel to sites and destinations across Wales for training and events (a full, valid driving licence required).


Salary and Benefits:

About Us

Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority (PCNPA) works in partnership with local and national stakeholders to conserve and enhance the National Park as a vibrant, living, working landscape and community teeming with natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage.

Covering 615 sq km it is one of the smallest UK National Parks but has one of the most diverse and stunning landscapes and over 21,000 people. This beautiful coastline is backed by hills, estuaries, valleys and woodlands that allow you to discover something different. Pembrokeshire is home to more Blue Flag beaches than any other county in the country.

You will be working with a team of circa 25 people who are all focussed on delivering the National Park purposes. This close-knit team are predominantly based at Llanion in Pembroke Dock but also work remotely. There is a positive, supportive culture within the team.

The Role

We are now looking for a Planning Officer to join our Development Management team. We are recruiting for maternity cover position (37 hours per week over 12-month contract) however, we will consider applications for part-time or flexible working arrangements and offer hybrid working arrangements once training has been completed.

The Role As a Planning Officer, you will support the delivery of a comprehensive range of planning services across the organisation. This will include providing guidance, validating and processing applications and supporting compliance to help conserve and enhance the park's unique landscape. Collaborating with internal teams and external agencies, you will handle pre-application enquiries, assess and process planning applications and ensure cohesive decision-making. You will also prepare reports, draft recommendations and present findings to the Development Management Committee. Additionally, you will: - Address breaches of planning control - Contribute to developing our planning strategies and policies - Manage applications for advertisements, lawful use certificates, minor amendments, and discharge of conditions - Respond to public and agent enquiries via phone, email, on-line meetings and in person - Represent the Authority at external meetings, assist with appeals, and contribute to Local Development Plan work.

About You

To be considered as a Planning Officer, you will need: - Awareness and appreciation of the purposes of National Parks - Experience of planning and/or development management is desirable but not essential - Experience of preparing reports and statements - The ability to read and understand building plans - To be educated to degree level in an appropriate discipline - Positive approach to dealing with customers and stakeholders, with an ability to deal effectively with difficult customers and controversial situations - Proven ability to proactively manage personal work priorities, to balance conflicting demands to meet deadlines - Excellent IT skills - Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute is desirable - A full, valid driving licence and use of a car is essential.

The team at the iconic Carew Castle and Tidal Mill deliver a range of engaging sessions for schools as well as a programme of activities for families during school holidays.

Carew Castle offers education groups a unique chance to explore a magnificent castle and to be taken back in time. As part of our friendly and experienced team you will lead sessions with imagination, enthusiasm and a passion for history, immersing groups in the sights, sounds and stories of the past. You will take on a Tudor character, as part of an ensemble, and lead groups of children in traditional crafts, drama sessions, storytelling, tours and Tudor music and dance.

In school holidays the Castle hosts costumed summer activities including Have-A-Go Archery, Knight School, craft sessions and Horrid History talks. You will ensure sessions are high-energy and fun, whilst also adhering to strict safety procedures.

You will be a friendly and welcoming person, have previous experience of working with children, experience at a visitor attraction, an interest and knowledge of history and Welsh language skills would be an advantage.
